What should I wear?
Formal attire. We also want you to be comfortable —keep the weather in mind. The ceremony will be outside. The dance floor will be a concrete floor, in case you want dancing shoes.
What does Formal
mean exactly?
Another common term for this is black-tie optional
. You may often see the term semi-formal
at other weddings, but the term semi-formal
can have a wide interpretation by guests. In our case we used the used the term Formal
. For example, someone could:
Ladies
- Formal (floor length) evening gown
- Dressy cocktail dress
Gentlemen
- Suit, dress shirt, and tie
- Leather dress shoes and dress socks
Is there anywhere to park?
Yes, we have dedicated, free parking directly in front of the reception area.
What about kids?
We encourage parents to take advantage of the childcare services we’ll provide during the reception. This will allow everyone to mingle during the ceremony and cocktail hour, but will allow parents and guests the space to enjoy themselves during the reception (dinner and dancing).
Childcare services for children ages 3-12 will be provided during the reception (childcare services ending around 11 pm). The kids will be in a nearby building on the property, and parents can visit. This space will allow kids to have their own pizza party and engage in fun activities provided by the childcare services.
Kids can help us kick off dancing after dinner and return to the kids’ reception area for some age-appropriate fun once they’ve had a chance to show us their moves.
We wouldn’t want the kids to miss out on dessert so we’ll sneak any kids who haven’t dozed off back into the Big Barn for cake cutting and a tasty treat.
You didn’t ask me to select a protein. Do I need to tell you what I want for dinner?
Not necessary – you’ll have the freedom to select at dinner. We do need to know if you’re vegetarian, vegan, have allergies, etc so we can tell the caterers to prepare food accordingly. Please detail that information in your RSVP.
What’s the weather going to be like?
We’re hoping for nice weather. We expect pleasant weather during the day, but a long sleeve for the evening hours is a good idea. Rain is a possibility. Can I bring gifts?
The best present you could possibly give us is the celebration of our marriage. Please refrain from brining physical gifts. We’re trying to travel light. There will be a card box at the reception.
